HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my darling John!
What a fun year it has been. I absolutely adore you and your enthusiasm for life. You fill each day with adventure and laughter, and I am grateful every day that I get to be your mother.
Some of my favorite John developments of late: Talking more and more every day!; Your thoughtful gaze as you focus on my face to make sure I understand what you are saying; Your fake laugh; Your incredible excitement over anything with chocolate and cookies; Your intense bursts of energy that result in huge eyes, strained mouth, and running around like a wild man; Your daily laughing outbursts; Your attempts to repeat prayers and emphatic "Amens"; Your interest in everyone around you and drive to keep track of your "people" (you are very concerned when someone from the group is gone); and your absolutely amazing adaptability through all our travels and big move. There are so many adorable things you do and so many things I love about you!
We celebrated your birthday party in Scotland this year! Today (your actual birthday) is in the midst of a big move, so we took advantage of being in Scotland with my family last week and celebrated with a fun family party.
Your cake: Chocolate with cookie decorations
Which you happily devoured (spoon and hands utilized)
Our Scottish Birthday Boy!
Your presents: a Scotland shirt, hat, Nessie toy, Scotland soccer ball, English double decker bus, and a few movies we brought for you to open. You were very enthusiastic and appreciative of your gifts!
Today, to celebrate your big day, we took a break from unpacking boxes and explored a nearby Connecticut beach! It is a beautiful day, and you absolutely loved the beach. So much to do!
Throw rocks
Dig your feet in the sand
Throw sand
Jump on Dad
Watch the waves
Play in the water (Wow! Way to be daring!
Luckily you thought salt water splashing your face was funny)
Overall, you loved it! A very fun outing for your special day!
And your final surprise: Grandma and Grandpa Colton are pulling in any minute to help us move in and enjoy more time with you!
We love you so much and are so grateful you are a part of our life! Happy, happy birthday, my big two-year-old!!!
