A Day as a Lobbyist

Matt has been the Legislative Liaison for his dental school's chapter of the American Student Dental Association for two years now. He has enjoyed his glimpse into the political workings of protecting dental professions. One of his major responsibilities in this role is participating in National Dental Student Lobby Day and meeting with all congressmen and women from Nevada. Last year, he flew into DC all ready to try out lobbying, only to be thwarted by Snowmageddon. DC literally shut down for the day he was there, including all government offices! This year, much better luck. He enjoyed gorgeous weather and was even privileged to behold the beautiful blossoms of the Japanese cherry trees.
Followed by meetings with congressmen, women, and staffers from Nevada. He really enjoyed meeting with Joe Heck, a Henderson doctor who is brand-new to the DC scene and full of enthusiasm.
Quite a contrast from John Ensign, who Matt described as "seasoned and bitter."
An added benefit to DC visits, Matt was able to meet up with my family for dinner!
I'm so proud of Matt's extracurricular efforts and successes. It's always interesting to get a glimpse of life on the Hill.
