Summer Lovin'

This summer has been incredible! Matt had almost two months off between dental school and residency, John is at a fantastic stage of self entertainment and ease of travel, and we have been able to fit in many great trips and really enjoy our new home.

Here's a photo recap of summer highlights since Graduation:

First stop: Southern California for my college friend Karissa's wedding
It was such a gorgeous wedding and so exciting to celebrate Karissa and her wonderful husband, Peter.
We were also able to visit with cousins Ben and Sara, and catch up with Heather and Kate and other great friends from Stanford.  It was also so nice to get some time just Matt and I, what we are now dubbing our "Babymoon" as we finally discussed baby names, watched "What to Expect When You're Expecting", and enjoyed Ventura and Santa Barbara together.
Side note: We love the show Psych, so visiting Santa Barbara was exciting beyond it's beauty and gorgeous architecture.

Second stop: East Coast, Williamsburg
We flew back to DC to reunite with John; my dad flew to DC with John after Matt's graduation, giving us the three days to finalize packing and enjoy wedding festivities in CA.  Once in DC, we headed to Williamsburg to enjoy three wonderful days with my Grandma, Sandi.  She has a great eye for what will interest kids, and John was fully entertained and so happy the whole trip!

Colonial Williamsburg
Enjoying the great animals downtown (feeding this horse sugar cubes!)
And loving time with Blam, at her beautiful Bed & Breakfast

Split forces, Matt's next stop: Upstate New York
My parents are responsible for the youth program in their church 'stake' (multiple congregations), so they had spent months planning details for this year's big Youth Conference.  The 12-18 year old kids were treated to an incredible trip, visiting several very significant LDS church history sites and ending with a quick visit to Niagara Falls.  Two of my dad's counselors weren't able to come, so he asked Matt to come as his wingman to help execute all the little details.  Matt had never been to Palmyra, the Sacred Grove, the Susquehanna River, or Niagara Falls, so he was excited to join in.

Huge bonus:  He got to see his aunt and uncle who are currently on a mission in Palmyra.
They were the keynote speakers before visiting the Sacred Grove, and it was such a gift
for Matt to be able to hear them bear their testimonies at this incredibly spiritual place.
And Niagara Falls is astounding!  (Not a bad shot for an iPhone)

Meanwhile, John and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family in DC.  My cousin Dan is currently posted in Germany with the JAG Corps, so it is a real treat to get to see his family.  Holly and her three kids came to DC the same week we were there, and Aunt Carolyn assumed super-Grandma duties and hosted us all around town!
Downtown: Natural History Museum
National Zoo
Good ol' fashioned fun with a sprinkler

Next stop: Scotland!  As posted previously, it was a trip of a lifetime!

We drove up to Connecticut the day after we got back, so this marks the end of our open-ended vacation months.  Such a memorable time together!
