5 Year Anniversary Trip

Five Years! Existence outside of Team Alleman feels very distant, but I still can't believe we've been married five years! What a great five it's been.
The Honeymooners
When we moved to Vegas and calculated that our 5-year anniversary fell during our time here, we schemed to revisit our honeymoon resort in Palm Springs and some of the splendor from that happy newlywed week. Then, after helping Jane with her fourth significant application essay (BYU, abroad program, Business major, Strategy focus), she vowed to do anything to thank me... so she came down to watch John for two days! She was WONDERFUL, John and Jane had a blast together, and it was so great to have a little getaway just the two of us with minimal worrying about John.

Palm Springs was heavenly. Perfect weather, the resort was even more gorgeous than last time (major renovations), and we truly relaxed and indulged.

We kicked off our weekend by revisiting our first dinner spot from our Honeymoon, Mikado's Japanese Grill.

First night: Honeymoon
(Matt has a very visual memory, he remembered this bench from a picture)
First night: 5-year Anniversary

On Saturday, we ate a tasty breakfast then played tennis on clay courts. So fun! A little gritty and slick, but I loved the feel of playing on clay. Fun to soak up the sun doing something athletic and we loved trying out something new.
Overlooking the gorgeous grass courts
After tennis, we headed to the pool. We read, swam, and ordered a light lunch. Highlight: our favorite drink from our poolside waiter days, a virgin mango pina colada.

Delicious drink, cool water, warm sun.... heaven.
Our ultimate indulgence (and our Christmas present to each other) was a couples massage at the spa. We checked in early and enjoyed every relaxing amenity offered, and the massage was sublime. So pleasant to experience that relaxation together.

Finally, we headed to our favorite dinner spot, LG's Steakhouse. Truly fantastic food.
Again, Matt's visual memory: a picture from primping before dinner
And 5 years later, catches me on film again
LG's
What a fun and indulgent getaway! A great opportunity to reflect on the past 5 years together and celebrate our recent happenings and future adventures. I sure love you, Matt!
